Oekaki Night~

As always I love exploring the artistic world of the internet~ These past days I’ve been checking out some DeviantArt galleries. One particular gallery caught my attention, this gallery belongs to a certain user called tsulala. She is superb! I love her drawings! I wish I could just like steal some of her commissioned works and color them myself! Kidding.

Anyway, earlier this evening, I went on checking her gallery again. Then I opened her official website. To my surprise she’s actually a Professional!!! No doubt but why did I not know that immediately? LOL Anyway, she actually made the illustrations in the graphic novel called Vampire Kisses: Blood Relatives and many more… Nice. Her real name is Priscilla Hamby. Here’s the LINK to her webbie.

Thanks to her I discovered Oekaki~ and this is the start of my Oekaki Night!!! Kekeke. What is an Oekaki? According to what I read from the ever faithful Wikipedia: Oekaki on the Internet refers to a bulletin board system allowing artists to draw online and share their pictures. The drawings are generally not uploaded; pictures are done using an online drawing program inside the web browser. However, some versions of oekaki software do allow uploads, and usually the rules of that oekaki will state that only x number of uploads in a week are allowed. Drawings can be done with a computer mouse, a graphics tablet, or a touch screen.

The online drawing programs are called applets and here are some known applets: OekakiBBS, PaintBBS and ShiPainter. I tried the OekakiBBS and the ShiPainter. The OekakiBBS is like the most basic and somehow have the least tools. Not sure though, I haven’t completely explored it. On the other hand, I tried the ShiPainter and I truly enjoined it. Luckily for me, I have a tablet and pen so it was easy to draw what I want. Here’s what I got from the ShiPainter:: My progress…

I must really learn the proper way of coloring and shading because that’s where I suck at! Waaa. Still, I’m so glad to discover this thing. Thanks to tsulala aka Ms. Priscilla Hamby! ^^ *Looks for more tutorials* Hmm. I also planning whether I would really join an Oekaki.. :D

After finishing my Oekaki, I ate my dinner. YUM. My mom made a fruit salad which she somehow experimented. The ingredients were Sweet Condensed Milk, Mango, Pear, Apple and Oranges. It was a spectacular dessert! ^^ :D
